what constitutes blessed?

             Proverbs 28:27
He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes

Homeless man begging on a city street 3 photo

shall have many a curse.

Its so true, what Gods word says!!! After I've given to others I saw in need this week, shortly after God met needs that I had. One day I gave a plate of food to two guys I knew who were hungry. The following week I needed groceries, but my funds couldn't supply that need after the bills were paid. So a person from my church (who didn't know I lacked food) stopped by and brought me groceries Woman loading car with grocery bags from trolley in supermarket car park, smiling, portrait photo

soon after!! Amazing how Gods promises are real, he truly provides for His people!! When the oppurtunity came for me to give I just saw a need--I wasn't neccessarily doing it so God could do for me. I really didn't come across these verses about giving until after te fact. Then, it became more evident to me of God mindset concerning his people to be giving and unselfish.

Proverbs 14:31
He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth him hath mercy on the poor.

We honour God thru our obedience to his word--that includes giving. As we have mercy on others and give..whether its giving them money, gives money: Hands exchanging one hundred dollar bills over luxury cars stock photos

or giving people our love by being longsuffering with them. The bible speaks of forebearing one another in love...we must be patient though certain members of our church or others may be rebellious to Gods will. Just knowing that I didn't always do things the way God spoke to me to do. yet, the time came when I forsook the things he told me too and became fully obedient. Sometimes there are things (that seem small) ....that we aren't willing to let go of...no matter how many times God tugs at the heart to release it. whether it be letting go of a

romantic relationship arguement: Man consoling his sulking wife stock photos thats unprofittable in Gods eyes, letting go of unforgiveness, idolatries and frustrations. So longsuffering with others is something to GIVE. At times it seems the easy way out to just give up on people and remove ourselves from their company. If God leads us to do that then thats what we must do. Yet, if not we must continue to pray for them and not be a partaker of their deeds--being an example to them.

1 Timothy 4:12
.......be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

It amazingly blesses my soul when I consider what God constitutes as blessed. As of right now I have a married couple friends: Chef and Women Preparing Food stock photos from my church living with me because they have no home at this time. So whenever I talk with them, I always tell them they can stay for however long they need to. Why? Its not that I don't want to see them progress, but simply because I remember when I was homeless and living with sisters from my church. Sometimes people can give to you and....it not really be from their heart....but rather out of obligation to their "duty as a christian." Yet, when I opened my home to this young couple I felt priviledged that God opened the door for me to be an instrument of his love to be shown to others. I remember how

uncomfortablewoman uncomfortable: Woman looking away while grimacing stock photos people had made me feel when I lived with them. How they kept inquiring when was I leaving and....it hurt yet it stregthened me to hold my peace and love them despite their behavior. When God blessed me with

my house Entrance to a house photo

and God presented the oppurtunity for me to take in others...thats exactly what I was able to do. I feel blessed to be able to give and I came across verses mentioned above in His word that seconds that notion. *smiles*

Is there anything that can grow Photograph of a hand holding a growing plant

without changing? Just the same as things all throughout the earth grow and change throughout the seasons...so should christians be growing and moving forward in God

2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

How do we do that?

Matthew 18:3  And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Notice that Jesus also said except you be converted...what does converted mean?

converted: to change into another form, substance or state.

Wow! God has the power to change us into something

new.

Revelation 21:5
And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

He doesn't just make some things new....but thru faith he makes all thngs new. He helps us not only overcome the elements of this life but also to conquer  our old selves!!

Ephesians 4:22-27

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27Neither give place to the devil.

God knows them that are His..when a person truly is a christian that will fosake their way for Gods way.

1 John 3:5-9

5And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

6Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

7Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Gods people are overcomers....not ones that turn their back on God. A person can be a backsliden in heart  and still faithful to church. going to church does not constitute salvation..faith does and faith without obedience is dead.

A person who doesn't obey Gods word lacks faith.

1 John 4:4
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

1 John 5:4
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the

victory

that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Resisting Discouragment

Earlier I was weighed down about a class I've been taking. My faith was challenged in a new way....I realized that I hadn't been going to the tutorial sessions like I should havebeen because I didn't have the money to test out of the class just yet. There was no excuse, my own procrastination was causing me to feel to doubt whether I would test out of the class before the deadline given by my University. I've taken the test before an hadn't made the required score yet although I prayed. When I read this article today it really gave me vision and cleared my mind to what God is woring in the midst of al this in my life. Here it is: (I couldn't resist adding pictures)

Yes, procrastination is the number one enemy of your life mission. You know what you’re supposed to do, but you don’t get around to it. You keep putting it off. That’s a deadly enemy. But a close second is discouragement.

When you’re discouraged, you’re ineffective. God cannot use discouraged people, because discouraged people are the opposite of people of faith. And God uses people who have faith. When I am discouraged, I’m saying, “It can’t be done.” That’s the exact opposite of saying, “I know God can do it because he’s said …”

The Bible says you need to resist discouragement. Don’t give in without a

fight. Close-up of a Young Woman Wearing Boxing Gloves Framed Photographic Print Nothing worthwhile ever happens without endurance and energy.

The fact is, great people are really just ordinary people with an extraordinary amount of determination. Great people don’t know how to quit.

Some of us are discouraged over children. Some of us are discouraged about your marriage. It’s not at all what you thought it was going to be. You feel deflated and disappointed. Some of us are discouraged about our ministry. Or about our finances, or our health, or the economy, or an unanswered prayer.

Some of us have been praying for something specific and haven’t gotten the answer. God’s delay is not a denial. Just because you haven’t had the answer or the miracle yet, that doesn’t mean God isn’t going to do it eventually. It simply means not yet! Maturity is knowing the difference between, “No,” and “Not yet,” between a delay and a denial. God says, “Don’t become discouraged. Resist discouragement. Because there are going to be delays in your life.”

You’re going to be tested in your patience

by God. The really good news is you’re not just going to be tested once, you’re going to be tested thousands and thousands of times. Because anybody can be patient once. And anybody can be patient twice. And anybody can be patient three times. So what God’s going to do is test you over and over and over. Why? So he’ll know how patient you are?

No. So you’ll know.

God tests us, not for him to find out what’s inside of us but for you to find out what’s inside of you. He tests you so you’ll know your level of commitment, and he tests you so that you can know his faithfulness. His purpose is to teach us

Some of you are going through some difficult times right now and you feel like dropping out of the race.   You’re discouraged because the situation seems unmanageable. Unreasonable. Unfair. It may seem unbearable. Inside you’re basically saying, “God, I can’t take it any more. I just can’t take it any more!” But you can. You can take it some more because God is with you. He’ll enable you. Remember, you are never a failure until you quit, because quitting means you won’t make it to the finish line.

Resist discouragement! Finish the race God has set before you.

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come.

When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm.

While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our trust toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down

it is how we handle them. The Bible says,

Isaiah 40: 29-31

verse 29 He gives power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increases strength. verse 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and

they shall walk    Go to fullsize image   and not faint.

Psalm 34: 17-22

v.17 The righteous cry and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. v.18 The Lord is near to them that are of a broken heart; and saves such of a contrite spirit. v.19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord delivers them out of them all.  v. 20 He keeps all their bones; not one of them is broken. v. 21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. v. 22 The Lord redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Psalms 34:1

I will bless the Lord at all times his praise shall continualy be in my mouth.

Job 2:10

.....shall we not recieve good of the Lord ad not the bad? In this Job did not sin with his lips.

An attitude like the hebrew boys is in order for me.....Whether God sees fit to save me from sorows or to have me endure thru them...either way He is still my God and I'll love him all the days of my life. For his will is good, perfect and acceptable for me.

Broken, But Not Forsaken

Head and not the tail

I'm really at wits end seeking out encouragement from anywhere, I really feel distraught. I'm taking a web course for the first time. (yes to go along with this math class that bugs me) I'm completely not good with computer classes that don't offer examples for me. Today and tommorow or like the last days to drop and not enough time for me to see whether this can get better or not. I really can't risk hurting my G.P.A. As much as I enjoy my major. I'm considering changing to General Studies so maybe I can graduate sooner. I just wish I had of considered this sooner. I just want to graduate at this point and am not trying to press myself out of measure. I'm sure I can do anything however....that takes time and I'm not willing to spend that much time on a B.A. Especially, since several sources who have their degrees have shared with me that they don't even remember half the things they learned. I can testify that I don't remember things I've learned in classes I've gotten A's in.

Well, tonight is bible study service at church, so I'm praying for a personalized testimony sent from heaven directly to me. I just feel discouraged at times and have even considered quiting. I thought about what I'd do with my life if I left school....I actually had good places to start working. Ministry wise I'm apart of Campus Crusade for Christ and they have talked with me about coming on staff. So!! We'll see what happens! When one door closes another is always opened. I really want to get this degree though and I'm so shame that I friends younger then me moving forward in math and I'm not. Whoever though college would have a potientially smart person to feel so dumb? i can get all A's and B's in my other classes, but if this one class isn't up to par i feel so pitiful. I need real encouragement right now. Not that "Jesus loves you" stuff either, but true words of experiences a person went thru and got thru them on top...Will i really be the head and not the tail like the scripture says? The reason I'm asking is because I've failed this class before even after much praying, tears and studying everyday sometimes for hours on math....

the best scripture I can think of to encourage myself would be:

2 Corinthians 4:9

9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;
